About me
Traveling is my passion because you can discover different places, cultures and people. Traveling on motorcycle just make the experience more intense because you are more in contact with the people and nature around you than sitting in a closed car.
My name is Jan Gehring. I'm a Linux systems engineer and software developer currently working at inovex GmbH in Karlsruhe / Germany. Also i'm the creator of Rex an open source remote execution and configuration management tool used by companies around the globe.
In 2017 i made my motorcycle license and since then i traveld to various countries in my holidays.

Morocco, the land of extreme contrasts. Exotic spice and colorful carpets, lonly nomads and vibrant cities. Snow captured mountains and dust-dry deserts. Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. Ireland, green island and the country of sheeps. A very nice landscape, friendly people and lot of places to visit. At least if it doesn't rain all day ;-) Sadly it rained a lot during my trip. Visiting the swiss alps was the next thing on my agenda. The alps have a great landscape with nice twistys roads and beautiful scenery. Every biker will enjoy the ride and you can spend many weeks discovering all the great mountain passes. You also find some videos on my youtube channel.
First trip right after i got my license was to France. It was a one week trip around Celles sur Plaine.
Digital Nomad
In spring 2019 i sold most of my belongings and started my life as a digital nomad.
First i bought a trailer and looked out for a campsite in germany to put it there. I use this as a homebase so i have a place where i can go back and plan my next destinations.
Usually, when i go abroad i will use my motorbike to go there.
Portugal
My destination for the winter 2019/2020 is Portugal.
Sicily
Destination for the winter 2020/2021 is Sicily.
Spain
My first destination for the winter 2021/2022 is Costa del Sol in Spain.
